OT Sessions
Occupational Therapy
We offer occupational therapy services to children and adults who have special needs. Aquatic therapy may increase one's ability to function through therapeutic use of the aquatic environment.
Children with diagnoses such as PDD/Autism, developmental delay, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, sensory integration disorder etc. have shown great benefit from the freedom of movement, breathing techniques, and therapeutic exercises that we offer in our sessions.
Adults who are recovering from stroke, cardiovascular disease, surgery, back pain, arthritis, as well as other degenerative joint diseases have also had great relief and recovery from therapy in the water.
What You Need:
Clearance and a prescription from a medical doctor are necessary before beginning occupational therapy services. This must include a diagnosis and simply state "Occupational Therapy" on the prescription. This must be updated yearly.
The fee for an occupational therapy aquatic session is $90 per half hour. We will be happy to bill you monthly for these sessions. You may also submit our bill to your insurance company for reimbursement.
If you are interested in reimbursement from your insurance company, you may want to check with them first to be sure that they cover this service. Ask how many sessions per year that you or your child are entitled to, and what paperwork they require for reimbursement.
If your insurance company does not reimburse for Occupational Therapy services or you choose not to submit to them for reimbursement, you may consider a private swimming lesson instead. Please see more information under the private lessons tab.
We do not accept RSA's from the NYC DOE.
Cancellation of an OT Session
It is required that you provide 24 hours notice in writing via e-mail to aquabilitieswithjennifer@gmail.com to cancel your appointment or you will be charged for the session. We have up-to-date access to this e-mail account 24/7.
If you must cancel your appointment within 24 hours, please also let us know by e-mail, text or call 917-992-5088. You may also arrange on your own to substitute another person into your slot for a swimming lesson to avoid this charge.
Thanks!
